Rewarding effort
- Why reward effort instead of results?
- Children control their effort: practicing, finishing a job to the agreed standard, showing up every day. They do not fully control outcomes like grades or winning. Rewarding the work builds persistence and keeps the system fair for children with different strengths. Read: Should you pay kids for chores?
- Won't rewards make kids expect to be paid for everything?
- Not if you separate the two. Family responsibilities, like clearing your plate, are expected. Extra work, new skills and kept commitments earn points. The app lets you choose which activities earn points and which do not.
- Does Work Creates the Reward pay for grades?
- No. Points reward completed work and effort, never outcomes. You can reward consistent study time as a commitment, but not the grade itself.
- Can I reward effort even if the job isn't perfect?
- Yes. Each activity has a definition of done that you write. When you review work you can approve it, approve a different number of points, or ask for more information with encouraging feedback.
Points and rewards
- How do points work?
- Each activity, commitment, mission or bonus has a point value you set. When a child submits work and a parent approves it, points are added to that child's permanent record. Points count toward reward levels and wish-list items your family agrees on. Read: Points system vs allowance
- Are points ever taken away?
- Earned points are never removed as punishment. Discipline stays separate. Mistakes are corrected with a clear, recorded adjustment.
- Is rewarding children with money required?
- No. Rewards can be equipment, lessons, experiences, privileges or savings. You decide what each level means. Read: How much should you pay kids for chores?
- Can children see their own points history?
- Yes. Every child sees their own balance, every point earned and spent, and progress toward their goals. They cannot see siblings' records.
Chores and responsibilities
- What chores are right for my child's age?
- Toddlers can put toys away, school-age children can make beds and sort laundry, tweens can cook simple meals, and teens can handle most household work. Match jobs to skill and safety, not age alone. Read: Age-appropriate chores by age
- How many chores should a child have?
- Start with three to five specific jobs per child and add more once those become routine. A short list the child can finish builds momentum. Read: How to make a chore chart that works
- How do I keep things fair between siblings?
- Give each child their own list matched to their age, rotate the jobs nobody likes, and review progress one-on-one. Each child in the app has a separate account, so there are no sibling leaderboards. Read: Chore charts for multiple kids
- Do I have to use the suggested activities?
- No. Every suggestion is optional and editable. You can build everything from scratch.
- Can kids log work without internet?
- Yes. Children can submit completed work while offline. It is saved on their device and sent automatically when they reconnect, and parents get an alert when it arrives.
Family privacy
- Who can see my family's information?
- Only your family's authorized adults. Children see only their own records. There are no public profiles or leaderboards.
- Do children need an email address?
- No. You create a username and password for each child. Children sign in with those.
- Are photos of my children's work private?
- Yes. Photos are stored privately and can only be opened by signed-in members of your family.
- Are there ads or outside contact?
- No. There are no ads, no public sharing and no way for people outside your family to contact your children in the app.
- Can other adults help manage it?
- Yes. Add a parent or guardian and choose exactly what they can do, like approving work or managing rewards.
Membership and trial
- How does the free trial work?
- You get 14 days with every feature. A card is required to start. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your membership converts to the plan you picked, monthly or yearly.
- What does it cost?
- $24.99 per month or $249 per year for the whole family. There are no tiers, upgrades or per-child fees.
- How many children can I add?
- Up to five children per family, plus as many parents or guardians as you need.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. Cancel before your next billing date and you won't be charged again.
